Instagram Commodification
Reading through the essay, I particularly liked the argument that stated, "Wealthy eighteenth-century English travelers used technology to mediate and pictorialize their experiences of nature just as Instagrammers today hold up their phones and deliberate over filters." Such a statement connects and presents the continuity of aesthetics and nature through time and different mediums. Thematically and symbolically, Instagram influencers and high-status individuals would put their best efforts into transmitting a message of idealism to the world through their lifestyle and what they selectively showed. In Berger's Ways of Seeing, this idea is more so shared through marketing tactics. However, nowadays, marketing is intentional through social media advertisements and is more commonly intertwined into everyday life. Yet through the chronological differences, the insincere and superficial intentions remained present. It's strategic and purposefully alters human perception to incite an inner calling to act a certain way, live up to unrealistic standards, or feel a sense of exclusion and the consequential need to belong. Although both messages are evoked through different mediums and times, the underlying message of a specific ideal in society prevails.

Project 1 Reflection
Working on this project taught me a lot about my topic of Data Mining and Invasion of Privacy. Meticulously browsing through an unfathomable array of accredited sources filled with valuable information truly opened my eyes to how much I yet have to learn about my field of study. However, I learned the most about the proper procedure of writing a research paper in college. For instance, I switched my typical writing style from MLA to APA. In a sense, this scared me because it was a new stylistic change, and ensuring every detail abided by the formatting rules was essential. Regardless, writing in APA was a great introduction to personal upcoming undergraduate research I will be partaking in. Knowing innocent mistakes in crediting sources could result in large-scale consequences, I was particularly cautious with citing my sources. Overall, the process of writing this paper was strategic and logical. Working with my peers was extremely valuable as we were able to help and learn from each other. This project was indeed a great start to my collegiate writing experience.
